La Casa Degli Artisti

We stayed June 24-26, 2024, and unfortunately the owner completely ruined our trip to Rome. We were only allowed into the room after 12 p.m. We spent the 6-12 p.m. hours sitting in the car because we were worried it might be robbed in what we considered a very dangerous area. We had originally been due at the property at 16:00, but our plane was delayed, which meant we picked up the car late. We called the owner, who said she was going to work but would think of something. When we arrived, the owner wasn't there and wouldn't be back until 11:45 p.m. There was no key left for us, such as in a combination safe, and we weren't given the gate code, so we couldn't get inside or leave our luggage there without watching it. If the owner often works evenings, there should be a small key safe, remote gate opening over the internet (costs up to 10 euros), a neighbor to hand over the key, or even a request for other guests to open the gate to the garden so we could feel safe. The property was dirty (see photos), dark, and had small windows with large bars on the windows and doors. The owner probably doesn't know what running a mini hotel involves. He hangs his underwear on the terrace where people eat. The terrace table looked like it had never been washed, and the toilet was falling apart, with the seat on the floor.
