We had a great five-night stay. The room was large and clean, and the AC unit was great after a long day in the sun. There was also a mini fridge, but it didn’t work. Check-in and checkout were both smooth, and we’d definitely come back.

The room was clean and airy, with more space than we usually get in European cities. Getting in and checking out ourselves went smoothly, and cafés and the main sights were easy to reach. The bed and pillows were a bit uncomfortable, the shower felt small, and our fridge didn't work. Still, it was a reasonably good stay.

We were left outside at around 2 a.m. even though we’d been told arriving then would be fine. They sent what they called all the self check-in details, but left out the locker code for the main gate keys. We were two girls with no idea what to do, and nobody answered either of the two numbers we called. Even the police tried calling them after we asked for help, and still nothing. Twelve hours later, I’m writing this without having received a message. In the end, a neighbor let us in after we rang all the bells, and we made it to the bedroom. The service was horrible and arrogant. Save your money and patience.

I stayed in Monti at the end of a two-week trip to Italy, after starting out near the Trevi Fountain. It gave me a completely different feel for Rome: the neighborhood was calmer and more local than the busy tourist areas, but I could still walk wherever I wanted. The apartment is in a condo building, with four private rooms. Check-in directions were clear and detailed, and the staff kindly helped arrange airport transportation. It’s a cozy little place, though hotels may have more amenities.
