Rome Key Luxury House

Tucked behind a big wooden door, this little gem is under a 10-minute walk from the central station. The rooms are roomy, with high ceilings, a hot shower, towel warmer and free Wi-Fi. There’s no fridge, but you do get a kettle, a few teas, biscuits and other small things. The quaint lift has a sliding gate and little wooden double doors, a contrast with the rooms’ more modern decor. We didn’t need room service, but the staff seemed friendly.

We were just here for one night and had to leave early, so we missed breakfast. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, there was hot water, and the air conditioning worked. The walls are thin, though, so you can hear pretty much everything going on in the building. The location is handy, about five minutes from Termini, but the area around it didn’t feel safe to us, especially at night.

Rome Key Hotel is really close to the metro, which is cheap and gets you to most attractions. Uber was reasonably priced too when we just wanted to relax. My partner and I stayed for two nights. The room was lovely and very clean, just like the photos, with a comfy bed and handy minibar. We don’t drink tea or coffee, so the breakfast wasn’t something we would have picked.

The staff were approachable and gave us a WhatsApp number in case we needed anything. The bed was really comfortable, and it was nice to be able to open the windows. We stayed Monday to Thursday, but the heavy rain made finding the hotel difficult because the sign was so poor. My partner had to call and ask someone to come outside so we could spot it. A much larger, clearer “Roma Key Home” sign would help. They said our room was upgraded, though I’m not sure that was true. In the end, we had a very pleasant stay.
