Villa Ivana

The guest house is a little outside the city centre, but getting around was easy enough with one bus and the A metro line. We stayed four days with my girlfriend and liked it. The room was clean and modern, and the services were available to us. I also liked the clever, creative room names. They brought us fresh croissants and cappuccinos in the morning. I’d recommend it to everyone :)

We stayed five days and would definitely come back. The rooms are new, spacious and comfortable, with a large terrace, and the metro is just two bus stops away, about five minutes. Owner Toni speaks only a little English, but is friendly and enjoys chatting with guests, which made the stay feel personal. With a little effort, you can understand him. He explains breakfast, towels and parking clearly, and told us how to get into the city as soon as we arrived. Breakfast is Italian-style and served at the time you choose, so if you’re late and the coffee is cold, that’s on you, not the owner. Ivana speaks perfect English and Serbian and gave us more information later. People expecting five-star hotel service should book a hotel. This is a guest house where the owners live too, so treat them with respect and you’ll get respect back.

The welcome was the worst I’ve ever had, and the host was rude from the start. There was no reception and everything was shut, so we were left outside with all our bags. We tried calling several times and got no answer. When he finally picked up, he said he wasn’t there, couldn’t communicate in English, and that we had to wait until 3 PM to check in. The taxi driver tried to help because the instructions weren’t clear, but the host insulted him and then hung up on us. We only wanted to know where we could wait until he returned, since there was nothing nearby and it didn’t feel safe. The address on Booking was wrong too, so we had been going in circles. The hotel is far from everything and has little to do with the real city of Rome. Avoid it.

The owner treated me very badly and seemed unable to manage the place. I’d told him my flight meant I’d check in late, but he yelled at me because he was supposed to be asleep around midnight. When I arrived, I found he had cancelled my two-night reservation, leaving me scrambling to find somewhere else. I called him. He answered once, said just a few words in English, then hung up. It ruined my vacation, and I lost all my money because he wouldn’t refund me. Booking support was great and tried to help, but couldn’t resolve it because of the owner. Please read the other Google or TripAdvisor reviews before choosing, and don’t let him ruin your vacation.
