We in Rome

Our stay in May 2015 was the worst B&B experience we’ve had in Europe. We’d paid for the owner’s family home, which was described as having a nice green lawn, a living room, dining room, plenty of amenities, and his mother’s cooking. Instead, our reservation was changed because he wanted to give that place to a more important guest. At check-in, the owner left and was gone for 24 hours. There was no Wi-Fi information, the chairs were plastic supermarket ones, and there was very little soap. We called his home repeatedly, but nobody could provide the Wi-Fi password. When the owner finally showed up and we said we weren’t happy, he told us we could leave. We booked a hotel in downtown Rome, and he got us a cab since nobody there spoke English. After we arrived at the hotel, he contacted us demanding payment for another day, even though he’d said we could go. We refused, and he said he’d call the police. Later, he texted threats accusing us of stealing bath towels. His housekeeper apparently hadn’t checked the only bathroom drawer, where we’d put them. I’m sure they found the clean towels, but he never even apologized. Do not stay here.
