It’s a very quiet place to stay, and there are good walking routes nearby. In Castelnuovo village, you can shop for everything you need. The pool is great when the temperatures are high, and we were very satisfied with the accommodation. The supplier could improve the basic supplies by including things like spices and dishwasher detergent. Internet would also be useful, since mobile coverage is poor.
It’s a good place to get away from everything, enjoy the sun and countryside. Just be aware there’s no internet, the phone signal is very weak, and the TV wasn’t working. It’s far from everything, there’s no way to order food, and local restaurants are closed during the week.
The concierge and her husband were super friendly and gave us a warm welcome. On the first day our daughter wanted to swim, but he had just disinfected the pool. That evening they turned up at our door with a teddy bear, which was so sweet. We stayed in the ground-floor apartment at La Madonnina. It was more modern than the upstairs one, though not brand new, and it had everything we needed. The main drawback was the lack of internet and Wi-Fi, so quickly looking something up for the next day wasn’t possible. There’s no air conditioning or even a fan. We had days up to 45 degrees, and a little breeze at night would have helped. The fly screens were there, but didn’t keep out the smallest flies. Otherwise, everything was good.
