The host takes great care of guests, offers advice on places to visit, and had the ferry schedule for the Amalfi Coast ready. He was happy to answer questions and help make the holiday smoother. Breakfast was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and there’s a kitchen corner if you want to bring your own food. The property is beautiful and practical, close to Concordia piazza and easy to reach on foot. I highly recommend it. You can also book directly with the property to avoid the boycotted platforms.

Danielle runs a lovely little place and pays a lot of attention to guests. The breakfast had fruit, cereal, bread, coffee, tea, and several juices. It was self service, though the host made sure we had what we needed. We were three adults in one room, so it felt a bit cramped, but it was fine for one night. The room was clean and nicely decorated, with water and a few sweets, and the air conditioning was essential in August. The B&B is small and in a residential complex, about a 15-minute walk or an 8-minute drive from the city center and beach Boulevard. There’s public parking nearby. If you want a quiet, clean place in Salerno, I highly recommend B&B Il Faro.

The room itself was fine, and Danielle gave us some useful suggestions for nearby places. Still, I wouldn’t recommend this B&B to a friend. I came away feeling misled and uncomfortable, despite the positive reviews that made me want to like it. The listing said there was “valet parking,” but Danielle would text repeatedly before our arrival to pin down our exact time so he could help us look for street parking. The narrow, busy street had cars parked on both sides, with nowhere to pull over and unload. We had to circle the block while cars honked behind us. On the first night he gave us a remote for the apartment complex across the street, told us to move the car in the morning, and said to tell anyone who asked that we were staying in the other building. On other days, after long stretches of travel, we drove around searching for spaces and usually ended up in a paid lot a few blocks away, if we could find a free spot there. The surrounding area was dirty and crowded. This B&B is on the sixth floor of an apartment building. The elevator holds two people, or perhaps three squeezed in. The entrance has an old, finicky lock, and our room could only be unlocked from inside with a key. We saw both as fire hazards. There were three of us but we were given only one set of keys. At first, we overlooked some things because the man running the place seemed nice, if a bit overbearing. He hovered over us at breakfast and wouldn’t let us serve ourselves, not even take bread out of the toaster. It felt less like hospitality and more like he didn’t want us touching his things. One morning during our four-day stay, my mom smiled and greeted him in the kitchen, and he immediately scolded her for having a snack there the night before. We’d cleaned up and washed our dishes. He said it was a bed and breakfast and we couldn’t use the kitchen for other meals. When I pointed out that the listing advertised a “shared kitchen,” he first said he’d tell everyone they couldn’t eat other meals there, since other guests had been doing so too. Then he changed his mind and said it was okay if we swept up the crumbs with a broom he hadn’t mentioned before. On the first night he’d given us a shelf in the fridge, apparently for food we weren’t supposed to eat, and we put a pizza box there. The fridge had some sort of problem that made water run down its inside back wall, so the box was soaked the next day. Danielle blamed us for the pizza box ink transferring onto his fridge, raised his voice, and demanded we come look. By then, after the scolding, we’d had enough and kept walking out the door. In short, the owner scolds guests, and the listing gives a misleading impression. There’s no actual parking, and the “shared kitchen” seems to be for breakfast only in the morning, unless he changes his mind.

We stayed at faro bed and breakfast for four days and had a very nice time. The service was excellent, the place was convenient and not far from the station, and the owner was very kind and approachable. Thanks, faro bed and breakfast 👍👍👍🙏🙏

A lovely, modern B&B with tasteful decor and a handy location. We loved staying here.
