Getting around was easy from here: the bus stop and train station are close, and the view is lovely. The location works well for trips along the Amalfi Coast or by train. I felt less comfortable about the rooms, though. They have basic bedroom-style doors without secure locks, which can feel unsafe when you're young and sharing with strangers. One neighbor also banged aggressively on my door to complain about noise, which was uncomfortable. The entrance is hard to spot, and the elevator is very slow, cramped, and has no windows or ventilation. I often ended up walking four floors. The location was a plus, but those security concerns and awkward moments affected my stay.

The rooftop terrace was stunning, and the rooms were clean and spacious. Casa Maria is right in the city center, so I could walk everywhere. I stayed for two weeks and wouldn't have picked anywhere better. Maria is super nice, and her breakfast croissants are really good. Her son Antonio gave me the best tips on places to see and restaurants to try. I definitely recommend Casa Maria.

Just to clarify, I stayed at “Casa Maria al campo,” another B&B run by the same owner. I couldn't find it on maps to leave a review, so I'm posting it here. I got a room at the last minute, and the owners kindly charged me the regular rate. Ciro was great and helped with everything, including carrying my luggage up to the fourth floor since there's no elevator. The room was huge, could easily fit up to three people, and was squeaky clean with all the needed amenities. It's centrally placed for exploring the city. The downside was all the street noise and commotion from 6 am, which made sleeping really hard. Apart from that, fantastico!

Maria's buttery, flaky croissants were a treat at breakfast, and Toni knows the area well if you want local tips. I loved the view over the coastline and surrounding mountains, whether from inside the B&B or up on the terrace and rooftop. It's a relaxing, friendly place right in Salerno's historic center, and the sunsets from there are breathtaking. A real breath of fresh air!

The upgrade from the studio I booked to a lovely two-bedroom apartment was a great surprise. The kitchen had everything, the bathroom had a nice view, and the temperature controls were especially welcome in winter. Maria and her son were lovely hosts, and breakfast each day had croissants, toast, jams, butter, cheese, juice, and coffee. I was happy with the staff, cleanliness, check-in and check-out, location, and privacy, all 10/10. The stay beat my expectations and was memorable. Getting there depends on your train route. If you arrive or leave via the station one stop before the central station, it's a convenient 10-minute walk to the B&B. From the central station, though, it's about 30 minutes on foot. The apartment is on the fourth floor, and there's no lift yet, so with luggage the five flights of stairs can be tough. They're building a lift. A decent option if these details work for you.
