Villa Poseidon Boutique Hotel & Events

We had a peaceful, relaxing honeymoon stay and would recommend the hotel. Our room was clean and very spacious, and the pool was a great size. There were lovely views from the shaded seating area. The hotel faces a main road, but steps at the back of the car park lead down to bars and restaurants. We did miss having a pool bar or outdoor restaurant, since we had to go inside to order drinks. Still, we had a great experience.

The location was nice, but the owner ruined the evening. We’d rented the place for a dance event and signed a contract, then the owner complained that people were sweaty. Gates were barred to keep people from getting in, and we were thrown out halfway through the night for reasons that had nothing to do with safety. Very unprofessional. Lloyds hosted the event the following night without any issues, so I’d suggest looking there instead.

The ants were gathered around the fridge and in other corners, and the sheets were stained when we arrived. We should have taken more pictures. Photo 3 shows ants in the “new” room. We paid a lot and expected basic cleanliness and hospitality, but got neither. At check-in on day one, we were told breakfast wasn’t included, even though we’d paid for a package with breakfast. After we insisted and staff checked, they confirmed it was included. They promised a menu for the next morning, but it never appeared. We also found a significant ant infestation in one corner of the room. We didn’t complain right away, which we later regretted, especially after reading reviews that said complaints went unresolved. There still wasn’t a breakfast menu that night. The next morning, they again said breakfast wasn’t part of our booking. We had to explain it all over again to the same man, who said he’d made another mistake. After more back and forth, we were begrudgingly offered only coffee and a croissant, with no proper choices or apology. We’d paid less in Amalfi for an incredible full buffet. It was also upsetting to see an elderly woman tasked with serving us. After a long, hot day out, we came back to find the room hadn’t been cleaned, and there were even more ants. The following day it still wasn’t cleaned, so we took a ferry elsewhere to get away from the situation. That evening, when we raised the problem again, the hotel blamed us and asked whether we’d eaten in the room, as if that excused leaving it uncleaned for two days. Previous guests had said the hotel encourages eating in rooms. They eventually moved us, but the “new” room still had ants. No reimbursement, real apology, or accountability followed. Villa Poseidon was unbelievably disappointing. They were disorganized, made excuses instead of fixing things, and took no responsibility for the ants, forgotten services, and uncleaned rooms. I urge anyone considering Villa Poseidon to book elsewhere.

We had a family reunion with relatives from Switzerland and will carry this magical place in our hearts. It gave us a taste of southern Italy, with one of the most beautiful views we’ve ever seen. In the morning, we could walk to the centre of Salerno in two minutes. Later, we spent time in the pool until sunset and had an aperitif in the garden. Thanks to all the staff. Alessandra and Federico
