Suite Prestige Salerno

We went in the off season, so the price was reasonable, though I think it would still be worth it at other times. This was the best place we stayed in central Italy. The space was huge and had an outdoor patio with great views of the harbor. It’s about 30 minutes by car to rofello and amalfi, or an hour by bus, and metro lines are easy to reach. Great host.

We really enjoyed staying here and would come back. The apartment was spacious and well equipped, in a pleasant, quiet area with lots of cozy restaurants nearby. The terrace was lovely too, with a fantastic view, flowers, and a small herb garden.

The owner was incredibly helpful. She met us, helped with parking, suggested places to visit, and answered all our questions. The spot is ideal for sightseeing and eating, right at the edge of the old town. Parking was less pleasant, though we got lucky and found a space outside the corner bar where breakfast is served. Breakfast only included one coffee and one other item, such as a cornetto, which was the only real downside. The bar also sells one hour scratch-off parking passes. For a meal, I can recommend "Osteria del taglio" for more sophisticated dining. The apartment is enormous, with a big central sitting room, couches and a large table separating the bedroom from the bathroom and small kitchen. There’s an espresso machine, but a sign says "no cooking". It’s on the 8th floor. The lift takes you most of the way, though there’s still one flight of stairs. From the outside terrace, you get fantastic views south and west over the waterfront and harbor, and back toward the duomo. There are attractive plants along the railings and a hot tub, which the owners can heat for an extra fee.

From this sunny, spacious apartment, it’s an easy walk to the train station, port and Salerno’s main sights, including the historic center, the Duomo, waterfront and Piazza della Libertà. There’s a panoramic view, and the furnished terrace with its hot tub is a highlight, with complete privacy. Patrizia is extremely kind and always available with directions or tips on nearby itineraries. Highly recommended.
