The room wasn’t properly prepared: I was given two small slippers for women and had to ask for a larger one for men. There was water sitting in the kettle with impurities floating in it, and I had no idea how long it had been there. After going out around 2:30 p.m. and returning at about 5, I found the room hadn’t been made up. I asked again when I went out, but on my return the trash was still there and the cup hadn’t been cleaned. They’d only changed the towels and made the bed. During my five breakfasts, nobody showed me where to sit, asked how I took my coffee, or smiled at guests, especially foreigners. At check-in, no one explained breakfast times or the hotel facilities, including which of the three or four elevators from the parking lot to use. When I arrived, no one came out to help with my luggage, as a bellboy would at most five-star hotels. The hotel seems to have serious management issues, particularly with staff training. Is this really a five-star hotel? I don’t think it deserves even four stars. People who rated it well may not have stayed at another five-star hotel.

There’s an interesting international menu, a good wine list, and a nice choice of desserts. You don’t have to be staying at the hotel to eat here, and I’d especially recommend it to couples looking to get away from the noise of everyday life. It’s best to reserve a table ahead of time.

The room felt a little dated, and both the welcome and checkout fell short of what I’d expect at a five-star hotel. We won’t book here again, and if you have the option, I’d skip it. Management should give the staff a hospitality course if it wants to keep up with the competition.

The spa was frustrating to use, since it had to be booked in advance and was limited to just 1.5 hours a day. Breakfast also fell short of what we expected, both in choice and quality. Our room looked out onto ongoing construction, which took away from the experience. The hotel is very large, but feels dated and has no style. We also found the city itself neither interesting nor attractive. The stay didn’t live up to our expectations.

The hotel’s timeless elegance, history, and charm made a strong impression on us. We felt pampered throughout, and the facilities went beyond what we expected, combining modern comforts with the character of the building. The views were breathtaking, and local attractions were easy to reach. It was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Italy, with the genuine feel of five-star luxury.
