Dear potential customers, I want to share what happened before you decide to stay here. My friends and I made three reservations through Booking, all confirmed by Gianni. Some months later, but still a month before our trip, each of us got text and app alerts saying Gianni couldn’t charge our card. We had three different cards from three different banks, and we use them regularly without issues. We checked the card settings and tried contacting Gianni through Booking chat and WhatsApp, with no reply. The payment problem came up again the next day and the day after that, then Gianni cancelled all three reservations on Booking. We’d sent him several messages and he never answered. Meanwhile, our banks confirmed there had been no attempted payments. Gianni still had listings on Booking, but at rates 30% higher. Payment is handled by Gianni, not Booking. We sent Booking the evidence, including bank emails and copies of our messages to Gianni. I also found information on Google suggesting this had happened before. Please think carefully before booking.

Six months after I booked, the owner changed his mind, raised the price and cancelled my reservation. I wouldn’t trust this place!

The owner cancelled my whole reservation without replying to my calls or email. I’d booked through Booking.com around February 2026 for July 21-27, at about €625. In May, he was insisting that I pay for the entire stay right away. Booking.com only lets you freeze the money 30 days ahead, so I tried calling him several times and emailed, but got no response. I don’t think that was fair. It seemed like he was trying to take the money well ahead of the scheduled time. When I checked later to book again, the price had gone up by €300. Not bad!

Be careful if you’re planning to book. I reserved through Booking.com, but they cancelled two days before arrival, saying my card was invalid. I have a credit card, and my bank showed no attempt to charge it. I also made an instant bank transfer available through Booking.com, but they cancelled anyway. The property is listed on several portals. I can’t help wondering if they confirmed it for guests willing to pay more. If you want to start your trip without stress, I wouldn’t trust them.

The area where the house sits is lovely, but several avoidable problems affected our stay. The sinks had no plugs and the drains were blocked. The shower handset and hose were broken and leaking, there was no small electric oven, and lots of details felt neglected. The wardrobes were covered only by curtains; one room had just a chest of drawers and no wardrobe. Plastic stools stood in for all the bedside tables, and some lights had no bulbs. We asked for repairs, and the shower and hose were replaced. I had to deal with the sink myself, and found a toothpaste cap and a plastic tie in the drain. I understand why some people might not return to Salento despite how beautiful it is, when prices are high and services are poor. There was too little care for the guest, which is a real shame given the place’s potential. With the prices being high, I’d think carefully before booking.
