The Dream Residence 241

The house itself is lovely, the owner is kind, and the private Jacuzzi pool made it a great place for a relaxing break. I would have given it five stars if the host’s handling of the rubbish hadn’t spoiled our whole week. We’d paid for final cleaning, so when we arrived we asked how recycling worked. He told us to use the bins by the apartment, leave them at the end of the street, and said they’d deal with it at the end of our stay. But our checkout was set for 10:00 AM and he turned up at 9:00 AM, seeming anxious and uncomfortable about us needing to leave. Then he said we had to take the rubbish out because the house wouldn’t be cleaned. I pointed out that the waste collection schedule was from 2015. He said we should have mixed everything together and put it out as unsorted waste on Saturday. It was a lovely holiday in a wonderful place, but we’d suggest changing hosts. We ended up taking the rubbish home after a four-hour drive. Long live ecology.
