Pircherhof

We had fresh milk and eggs from the farm, which suited our family of five, with children aged 10 to 16. The apartment was large, beautiful, and clean, in a historic farmhouse 1,400 meters above sea level, with a straight-on view of the Grande Baranci. It’s a lovely choice if you want peace and quiet. San Candido is about 10 minutes away along an easy-to-drive uphill road.

The house sits in a stunning spot overlooking the S Candido valley and its mountains, but there’s no covered parking, so cars are left out in frost and snow. That’s why I’ve given it four stars. My son and I had a wonderful winter holiday here from February 29 to March 7, 2020. The owners were kind and courteous, and fresh bread was available by reservation. There’s also a mountain hut nearby where I bought good milk. The house is about three kilometers from the village along a slightly winding mountain road. Even after heavy snowfall, the road was always cleared and passable.

The owners were absent and there was no welcome. A noisy family staying in one of the apartments unfortunately spoilt the peace and quiet. The view is spectacular, but getting to San Candido town center isn’t convenient, particularly in winter.

Our apartment had a balcony with a lovely view of the Baranci and San Candido mountains. It was spacious and comfortable, in a really charming place where we could enjoy peace and quiet. We spent a wonderful week at the Pircherhof farm and hope to be back soon.
