Agriturismo Il Pintello

We were at Pintello from 18/9 to 22/9, and it really was great. The countryside setting is lovely, but the piazzale Michelangelo overlooking Firenze is only about 15 minutes away. SR222 (Chiantigiana) is close by. You can reach Strada In Chianti in 20 minutes from Pintello, then enjoy the scenic drive towards Siena. The motorway is nearby too, which makes it easy to explore farther parts of Tuscany. Our room had a fully equipped kitchen, the WiFi worked like a charm, and the view was amazing. Giulia and here family are extremely nice, and happy to give advice if you ask. She can also explain how to get to Florence’s historic center. A really great base for exploring Firenze.

We were hoping for a quiet rural stay, but it was noisy throughout our visit. There was a summer camp for children, dog breeding, and evening celebrations on the farm. The dogs were very sweet, but one barked from morning to night. The apartment itself was lovely, and the hostess was friendly and helpful, though very busy and involved. You can ask her for tips. The pool shown on the website wasn’t there. There was a smaller one, said to be clean, but it didn’t look appealing. Tap water was drinkable but heavily chlorinated. The air conditioning didn’t work, so we opened the windows in the evenings, but there were no mosquito nets and mosquitoes came in at night, including some Asian tiger mosquitoes. We tried the offered breakfast the first morning for €12 per person. The buffet was limited, mostly sweets and capsule coffee. We chose to cater for ourselves and skipped dinner, which cost €38 per person and hadn’t been shown during booking. The stay wasn’t at all what we’d hoped for.

From the apartment I rented, the view over the rolling Chianti hills was breathtaking. The place was clean and had what you need, from a moka pot to bed linens, and the pool made it easy to relax. There’s also a pond for fly fishing, plus paths through the olive groves and vineyards for lovely walks in the quiet surroundings. Outdoor tables and barbecues are available. I’d suggest a visit to the tavern for local things, including excellent homemade wine, fragrant olive oil, honey, and produce from the garden. Giulia is a fantastic host, always ready to help with what you need. Ask her where to eat nearby or what to see, you won’t regret it. I’d definitely stay again. Pets are welcome, which is a real bonus if you’re traveling with furry friends. Thanks for everything, Giulia.

A nightmare of a night. I’d booked with such excitement after seeing the positive reviews and the manager’s photos, but the place turned out dirty: cobwebs in the bedroom, dust, woodworms, and mosquitoes. We reserved a triple room on Booking.com, yet got a double room with an extra sofa bed in the kitchen. I raised these issues right away with the owner, Giulia, but she didn’t provide the room we’d requested and paid for. We put up with it for eight hours before leaving because of the poor sanitary conditions. Even so, we paid for the remaining day as agreed and got no refund from either the manager or Booking.com. I’m giving one star because that’s the lowest possible, and I’ve attached photos to show what I’ve described.
