Ciasa Salares

Five stars only because there’s no option for ten. The room was on the small side, but efficient, with an amazing balcony and view. The staff were super welcoming and helpful, and the location is great for walking trails and nearby ski and hiking resorts with cable cars. Breakfast was fresh, with plenty of delicious choices cooked to order. There are four great restaurants and bars on site. Amenities include a pool, dry and steam saunas, an IR room, Turkish bath, hot tub, and massage room. Highly recommend this place.

At 1620m in the high Dolomites, the scenery is stunning in every direction. There’s great walking, plenty of cable cars, and frequent buses. The hotel gives guests free bus passes for their stay. The accommodation is exceptional, and the restaurant has a changing daily menu and a vast cellar. Service is personal throughout, with the Maitre D’ doing a superb job. I’d recommend half-board at least. We’ve stayed for seven days twice now and plan to return year after year.

We chose Hotel Ciasa Salares again after enjoying our stay last year, but this time was a disappointment. The mountain view from our suite was breathtaking. The decor, though, was nothing special, and the tiny living room had two deep chairs and a coffee table, with nowhere comfortable to open a laptop and work. We took half-board again, with breakfast and a three-course dinner, salad buffet, and dessert. The restaurant service was top-notch, but the food fell short of last year. The medium-sized dishes on very large plates weren’t tasty, and the nightly presentation felt like a show without much excitement. Neither the salad table nor the breakfast buffet was replenished, so you had to arrive early for the full selection. Dessert portions had shrunk compared with last year. Choosing Hotel Ciasa Salares again was a big mistake for us.

The staff were attentive and welcoming, and really made our stay special. The hotel is beautiful, the setting stunning, and the spa is great. We loved breakfast, and all the food was fantastic. It’s a good base for hikes, with a useful free shuttle bus. We also spent an afternoon relaxing by the swimming pool, sauna, and Turkish bath.
