Fattoria di Fugnano

We spent more than two weeks here with our dogs and loved every day. The people were amazing, the scenery lovely, and the pool was just outside. The wine tasting was wonderful too, and we brought some wine home. The wifi wasn't working in the house and there was no air conditioning, which was a bit disappointing, but we managed and still had a good time.

The setting is magical, with 360 degree views of vineyards and natural beauty just outside San Gimignano. The rooms are a little farther from the wine production facility, which adds to that feeling of being away from it all. We booked three rooms, two apartments and one regular room, and all were lovely, very clean, and rustic-chic, with cooking facilities if needed. Ilaria, the property manager, was a star, helpful, accommodating, and easy to reach. The room rates included a free wine tasting on site, one of the best I've done in the region. It was simple, explained really well by the hosts and staff, and came with food, a nice touch. We did the session in English with seven of us. There is also a swimming pool with lots of space to lounge, drink wine, and eat. For the price, it's hard to beat everything this property offers.

I came to Italy dreaming of the experience, and after three chaotic days in Bologna and Venice, I finally felt that joy when we reached Fattoria Di Fugnano. Lorenzo greeted us with cold white wine, showed us to our apartment up the gravel road, handed over the keys, and gave us his number in case we needed anything. I wasn't expecting bottles of wine around the apartment, or two cold bottles of rosé in the fridge. The sparkling rosé I opened was delicious. The next day we went to Siena for tastings, then finished at Fattoria di Fugnano. Lorenzo showed us how they make the wine, and Andrea joined later. Those two young fellas made it feel like visiting family, sharing laughs, food, and their amazing wine. I've lived in Canada's wine capital and been to more tastings than I can count, but this was the best tasting experience I've had. It's not the place for luxury, but if you want an authentic Italian winery experience, the people and hospitality will make your stay memorable. We'd love to return to Italia. Fugnano, and Laura, made our special event dinner for about 15 people a huge success, exceeding every expectation. The table setting was gorgeous, the food and wine were exceptional, and Laura's team was fantastic. All the little details were covered, even fleece blankets on each chair when the September evening turned cool. Laura was easy to work with and kept in touch throughout the planning. Highly recommend.
