Guest House Edera

The room was lovely and clean, and we got a very friendly welcome. The location is good, just steps from the center. Our stay could have been perfect, but the Wi-Fi had some minor connection issues, which the manager helped resolve. The bigger problem was the lack of soundproofing: neighbors were noisy all evening and night, and their child or children screamed and cried from 2 am to 4 am.

We found this a handy base for taking our time exploring San Gimignano, with the city walls only a 10-minute walk away. There’s also a large parking lot, P1, less than five minutes away on foot, costing €6 per 24 hours. The apartment has plenty of space for a family and a kitchen with a stovetop and oven. The decor has a charming “grandma’s house” feel ;-) We highly recommend it.

I had a terrible experience with the management over the price. I first saw availability for my dates at €176, then sent a WhatsApp request and was quoted €200. Booking.com had shown €176 the day before, but the price had gone up to €246. When I asked why, the property said the booking site had raised it. Booking.com, when I called, denied that and confirmed that the owners manage the prices. I called the property again, and they changed their story, saying they had raised it because there were more requests and they “wanted to serve their own interests” (quote). Truly dishonest. We’ve just come back from a weekend in Gimignano, where we stayed in one of these apartments. It was very clean and really quiet. We’ll definitely be back.
