It was a nightmare with mosquitoes and other insects in the room. The air conditioning and fridge didn’t work, there was no hot water, and the bath towels were torn. The room we were given was dirty and smelled bad.

The rooms were big and comfortable, and the place had a distinctly Italian feel. We ate well, and the local wine was good and inexpensive. The service was very good and even came with singing.

We had a wonderful lunch at Hotel Pozzo Cavo while visiting the Padre Pio site. The food was carefully prepared and served impeccably, and the owner was kind and helpful. The waiters were courteous and attentive too. We were warmly welcomed, and the atmosphere was clean and well-maintained. We’ll definitely return, and recommend Hotel Pozzo Cavo to anyone passing through San Giovanni Rotondo.

There’s plenty of seating in this welcoming, clean, well-kept place, plus ample fenced parking. The menu is extensive, even including pizza, and everything we tried was good to very good. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the value is excellent. Service was a bit slow, perhaps because it was so busy, but it wasn’t a serious issue. I visit San Giorgio Rotondo at least once a year, so this will be a must-visit for me.
