Teresa and her mother made us feel so welcome that we became especially fond of them. The rooms were lovely, breakfast was so good, and their tips for restaurants and beaches were great. We were a family of five, with kids from elementary school age to preteen, visiting for family reasons, and we were lucky to find Agriturismo U Casinu da Scala. The place is gorgeous, with beautiful grounds and a peaceful feel. It was easy to relax there, yet only a short drive into town for the beach or to look around. The way up is on typical winding Calabrian roads, freshly paved and well maintained, with great views. We only wish we'd had more time. During our two weeks in Italy, including beach towns in Campania, Napoli, and Rome, this was by far our favorite place, with no close competition. Even the kids would choose the little hotel on the hill over the Colosseum, the Vatican, or Napoli's busy streets. We came from the U.S. West Coast, and it's the place our whole family wants to return to. If we make it back to Italy, we know where we're headed. If you're around Amantea in Calabria, this is where I'd stay. To me, it's among the best places in Italy.

We loved sitting out on the patio with a drink and watching the sunset. The host was warm and gave us helpful restaurant suggestions, and breakfast was delicious, with homemade items and fruit from the garden. The setting feels tucked away, with mountain and sea views, though it was still a convenient 30 minutes from Lamezia Terme airport. Great value for the money. We only wish we'd stayed longer to see more of the nearby beaches and towns.

The view across the countryside to the sea is beautiful, and we had a wonderful stay. Theresa looked after everything we needed. We'd definitely stay here again when we're in the area.
