Hotel Costa Caddu

The most upsetting part of our stay was a serious breach of privacy. A maintenance worker came into my room without knocking and saw me completely naked. When I reported it, the receptionist just said, “ok, I'll check,” which felt dismissive and showed no concern. The receptionist was also unhelpful and unprofessional when I raised the air conditioning problem, with no apology or satisfactory attempt to fix it. The air conditioning never cooled the room, even though I followed the instructions to close all the doors. We spent the whole night hot and uncomfortable and couldn’t rest. After checkout, I asked for secure luggage storage and was told to leave the bags under a table in the hotel restaurant, with the hotel taking no responsibility for them. That didn’t feel safe or professional. Breakfast was also well below average and disappointing. At €284 a night, the service and professionalism were extremely poor. I can’t recommend this hotel.

The staff were outstandingly kind and helpful throughout, from arranging dinner bookings to organizing taxis. A special thanks to Erica for being especially lovely and helpful. The hotel is very clean, in a great location, and the service is excellent. It’s about an eight-minute drive to bustling San Teodoro, and close to the beach. The spacious hotel is beautiful, with a lovely pool. Rooms are generous in size and very clean, though a little dated. Breakfast was lovely, but lunch wasn’t worth recommending from our one visit. The mixed salad was plain, and the club sandwich was bland ham in two slices of crustless white bread.

The staff were kind at every turn, from the lifeguard and bar team to reception, gardeners, and waiting staff. Everyone smiled and greeted us, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The gardens are beautiful and well cared for, the rooms are spacious with a seating area, table, chairs, and clothes dryer, and everything was kept very clean. The pool and public toilets were clean too, and the diving board was a nice touch. There’s a large car park, and beaches are within walking distance. Breakfast was a good continental spread with cakes, freshly cut fruit, cold meats, and cheeses. There’s also plenty of indoor and conservatory seating for cards, drinks, or the evening entertainment. A few nights, the entertainment ran until about 11:30 pm, so early sleepers might want a room farther from the bar. The seating area was lovely for catching some morning or evening sun.

It was a complete disaster. The room had no working air conditioning, so it stayed above 28 degrees all night. In the morning, staff came into our room without knocking while we were in the bath, which was a total intrusion into our personal space. Breakfast was far below standard for $500 a night. Even the small detail of having no bottle of water in the room seemed questionable at that price.
