Hotel Onda Marina

I’ve stayed at this beautiful hotel four times over the years, and in my opinion it’s the best in San Teodoro. I’ve tried several places around town. Its spot by La Cinta beach is hard to beat, literally a stone’s throw away. The staff are as friendly as you could ask for, there’s a well stocked bar, and the lounge at the front is very comfortable. The rooms are comfortable, though they could use a bit of an upgrade. Breakfast is nothing amazing, but that’s what I’ve come to expect in Italy: the usual breads, cheese, cold cut meat, and fruit. The ocean view from the premium rooms is incredible 🌅♥️. San Teodoro center is about a 10min walk. I’ll be back in September and can’t wait!

Drunk people tried to get into my room at 4 a.m., and housekeeping came in without my permission. The beds were unbelievably uncomfortable, and the staff were incompetent and disrespectful. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, a complete scam from start to finish. I’d never recommend it.

The reception staff, especially the women, made every effort to make our stay pleasant. The hotel has an old 90s feel, with adequate comfort and reasonably priced, acceptable rooms rather than any real luxury. Ours had a renovated shower, which made things nicer. Housekeeping didn’t change the bed linens on day three as promised, though, and that needs improvement. We visited in October 2024. The hotel is very close to the coast, right at beautiful La Cinta beach, a lovely spot for families. It stretches over four kilometers, with fine white sand and clear water that turns emerald green farther out. The water is fairly shallow, so children can play and swim safely. The breakfast buffet is typically Italian, with a fairly wide range of choices, though the quality varied in some areas. The hotel bar is open 24 hours, but could be better. The bartender was often also the receptionist, so not every cocktail could be made. That was disappointing after dinner and a cozy walk, when we wanted a drink at one of the outdoor tables. The price-to-value ratio is good, especially for a quiet holiday in a picturesque place by the beach. There’s ample parking, and an Enel charging station for electric vehicles just 20 meters away. The village center is a 10min walk, with plenty of restaurants and bars.

There’s no soundproofing in the rooms, so you hear everything, even people brushing their teeth and using the toilet. There’s no privacy, and I’d bring ear plugs if you want to sleep. It was the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The location is great, the hotel is nice enough, modern and very clean, breakfast is good, and the staff seem lovely.
