The sea view from this holiday home is breathtaking, and we felt very comfortable here with our toddler, who was 5, and our 10-month-old baby. It was very clean, with a kitchen that had everything we could need and plenty of seating indoors and outside. The outdoor sun umbrellas gave us shade. The only small downside for us was the bedroom mattress, though comfort is personal, so we didn’t take off any points. The motorway is easy to reach, which helped with day trips. The house is a little outside town, so you have to drive in to eat out, but the view more than makes up for that. In Sardinia you generally need a car to get to the lovely beaches anyway. San Teodoro was already livelier in May than the rest of southern Sardinia and nearby towns like Orosei, and most restaurants were open. Nearby, we found more varied, beautiful beaches than anywhere else on the island. In the off-season they were especially idyllic, still relatively empty, without sun loungers, parasols, or dinghies filling the bay. We suspect they’re completely overrun in peak season, from mid-June to mid-September. I’d suggest visiting between mid-May and mid-June, or from September onwards. Sardinia itself, with its beaches and charming towns, is a dream.
