Residence Villa Lo Scoglietto

We spent twelve days in a beautiful apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a great setup for three people, my wife, my mother-in-law, and me, since we could share the space while still having privacy. The bathrooms were spacious, with genuinely oversized showers. There were TVs in every room and in the kitchen/living room. It had everything we could need for cooking and everyday cleaning, and the balcony looked straight out to sea. A private beach is below, though you can choose the public one too. The sunsets were enchanting, with Capraia and Corsica in the distance. Next door, the hotel of the same name served an incredibly generous buffet breakfast, with a wide choice of sweet and savory, hot and cold food. Patrizia was friendly, smiling, and professional, and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. The spacious elevator was very convenient.

The location was great, but the place itself was a complete disaster. The balcony was the only nice part. The walls were dirty, the furniture worn out, the beds squeaky and uncomfortable, and the kitchen greasy. On a stormy night, it was so loud that we couldn't sleep, with the wind whistling through the train because neither the windows nor balcony doors shut properly. We also waited ages after arrival for someone to bring us the keys. We've been going to San Vincenzo for over 30 years, and this was by far the worst accommodation, a complete disappointment.

The beach was beautiful, but it didn't make up for the price, especially since the booking site's photos gave a very different impression. The apartment and building were run down, with ring-marked countertops, crumbling sealant, yellowing tiles, and broken furniture. The cutlery was still dirty and the windows needed cleaning. It had two separate rooms with doors separated by closers, plus a living room with no light because there were no extra windows. The balcony was too small for four people to sit. We left after one night instead of staying the six nights we'd booked.

I tried posting a photo on Facebook of my children's tiny bathroom, but it was rejected. It was so small that for a bath I had to put my feet in the shower!
