Camping Village El-Bahira

The on-site pizzeria served delicious pizza, maybe the best we've ever had, and the staff were warm and welcoming. The bathrooms were clean and cleanliness in general was acceptable, though the mobile home we stayed in was quite worn and the beds very uncomfortable. We enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the beautiful sea views. The location is stunning and perfect for climbing. Things weren't all perfect, but we'd happily visit again.

My first visit was for a climbing camp, and I'm already looking forward to coming back. The views are stunning, with cliffs and climbing areas, and the campground has a small store, beach bar and plenty of other facilities. It's a very large camping site with a restaurant and a fantastic pizzeria. The pizzas had medium-thick crusts, a fantastic taste, great spices and a Sicilian flavor. Easily among the best I've ever eaten!

The staff, especially the people behind the bar, were great and looked after me. This is probably better suited to families or groups, though I think it could be awesome for solo travelers in peak season. I was here during the Cous Cous festival, which I strongly recommend: great atmosphere, free music and good weather, though a little hot for hard climbing. I hear there's a Polish Climbing Festival in Sicily in October, with DWS over the pool and, no doubt, some interesting climbing characters. For a climbing trip, you can't beat the crags being such a short walk away. The pool, bar and beach are even closer. You can walk to San Vito beach in 40 mins and the supermarket in 20 mins. A car would still be useful to get around faster and reach the “better/tufa” crags more easily. Massive thanks to the staff, enjoy the rest of the year!

The only good thing here is the pool. At 23 euros for one person in a tent, the price felt high, and once you arrive at the campsite you're a captive customer because there isn't much nearby. There's no toilet paper or soap in the bathroom, and hot and cold showers cost extra. Prices at the restaurant, pizzeria and grocery store are high and seem aimed at exploiting tourists. The pizzeria was completely mediocre. At the restaurant, they forgot some of the ingredients for the tuna salad I'd ordered, which presumably stayed in the kitchen. If I'd known camping here would be like this, I wouldn't have come.
