Casa Di Ema

La casa di Ema, or the house of horrors? The view was already a problem mentioned in earlier reviews: the curtains are practically see-through, so the neighbors can look straight into the apartment. There were plenty of other issues too. The owner showed us around in about three minutes. In March, the heating was off, and the apartment was very cold when we arrived, even though our arrival had been planned. We came with a Wonderbox package and were asked to pay an extra charge. I contacted Wonderbox, and they said the property hadn't reported any additional fees beyond the package. In the end, one night here cost more than a night in a hotel. Breakfast was included, meaning two coffee capsules and two packaged plum cakes, with no choice at all. It would've cost less than €1 anywhere else. What if we'd had food intolerances? The shower was the worst part. There was just a measured amount of soap in the sink dispenser for two people over two days. In the shower were two nearly used-up, single-use soap samples. When we looked up to turn on the shower, we saw a thick white and green layer of limescale on the showerhead and along the sides of the shower. The toilet-roll holder didn't work, and both the bin and toilet brush were completely covered in rust. Going to bed wasn't much better. The blankets were very thin, and the sheets definitely hadn't been washed before we arrived. The apartment is also a room inside the owner's home, with the door hidden behind the bed. That felt a bit unsettling and left little privacy. In the morning, glad to be leaving, we tried to make the famous coffee and found someone else's coffee grounds at the bottom of the cups. Absolutely not recommended!

The owners were so friendly and helpful. When we arrived, they'd left us complimentary chocolate and coffee, along with bed linens and towels, shampoo, shower gel, and slippers. It felt better than a five-star hotel, and we'd love to return as soon as we can. I stayed here in May and couldn't find a flaw. The apartment had recently been renovated, was tastefully furnished, and had every comfort, even a hydromassage shower. The location is handy too: just a few minutes' walk to the center, with a bus stop, bar, pizzeria, and newsstand right outside.

This is a small room with a shower and kitchenette, well suited to one person or a couple. Everything's in good shape and arranged practically. It's in a quiet area with good restaurants close by, and you can easily walk into the center of Sanremo.

My girlfriend and I spent the weekend here. The place was clean, had all the comforts, and was handy for local services. It's a five-minute walk to the center, and the owner was friendly and very kind. If we're back in Sanremo, we'll stay here again.
