Residence Sanremo

We had a great stay, thanks for everything. The room was huge and right in the city center, and the bedding was top-notch. The bathroom felt modern and worked well, though a small curtain might be a nice addition. The hotel thoughtfully left us tea and a kettle, plus coffee capsules and a machine in the hallway. Reception has set hours, but with a bit of planning it all went smoothly.

The location puts you right in the center, though the bar just below makes it pretty noisy. The room itself was pleasant, but the shower has no glass screen, so water gets everywhere. Being next to the coffee machine outside also means forget sleeping in. There wasn't any service to speak of. Fine for a short stay of 2-3 days.

The room was a disaster to shower in, the bathroom flooded every time. We were also entitled to breakfast, but nobody ever offered it. At checkout, which was at 10:00 AM, the receptionist kept telling us to be on time. Then at 9:55 AM she knocked and came straight into the room before we could answer. We could hear her arguing with other guests who had asked for extra time, and they weren't given it either. The check-in arrangements were just as bad. The website said 3-7 PM, but the receptionist insisted we arrive at 6:30 PM because check-in was by appointment, even though guests couldn't choose the time. We had arrived well before that, but when we said the rule didn't seem fair, she rudely told us to pick a hotel if we wanted reception open continuously. I have never seen someone at reception be so rude. Absolutely terrible experience, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The room was spacious, but in awful shape. The moldings were coming off the walls, the bed was poor, and the bathroom cabinet door was loose. Breakfast was just one dry pastry and half a glass of juice, far below what you'd expect even at a basic hotel. Things had already gone badly before we arrived. The owner sent rude, unwelcoming messages about check-in a couple of days ahead. We'd agreed on 7:00 PM, but a delayed train got us there at 7:04 PM, and the owner demanded a 15 euro late fee. Not flexible, and a terrible first impression. At check-in, the owner kept up the condescending tone and made the atmosphere unpleasant. During our stay, the plastic ring on the toilet seat broke. We reported it as soon as reception was staffed, and the employee, probably the owner, immediately demanded 160 euros in cash. When we asked to see documentation of the cost before paying, she got rude, threatened to call the police, and made things aggressive and very uncomfortable. We ended up leaving a day early and weren't refunded for the last night. We travel around 60-70 nights a year and have never had an experience like this. The owner's behavior felt threatening and downright creepy. We don't recommend staying here. It was terrifying and unprofessional, and we won't forget it.
