The campsite is in a handy spot between two towns that are both worth a visit. It might suit you if exploring the area is your main goal, but I’d look elsewhere for easy swimming and a well-equipped beach, especially with a family. The beach is made of volcanic pebbles rather than fine sand, and the stones are sharp. Water shoes are a good idea, particularly for children, since the water gets deep fairly quickly and isn’t ideal for small kids. The facilities are old, though clean and well maintained. The price felt high, about a third to half more than some five-star campsites we’ve stayed at, while the services don’t really measure up. There is a bar, but when I went there from the beach in the afternoon, nobody was around to take my order. Near the end of the season, the selection was very limited, maybe it’s the same in peak season, with basically beer, soft drinks, and coffee.

The campsite was well maintained, and the staff were friendly and happy to help. They arranged a rental car for us and shared plenty of useful sightseeing tips. It’s a very nice base for Taormina and other worthwhile places to visit. We meant to stay for less than five days, but enjoyed ourselves enough to stay the full five. I’d recommend it if you want some rest alongside lots of local sightseeing.

At 40€ a night for one person, a small tent, and a motorbike, the price felt extremely high, even in peak season. Electricity and a warm shower cost extra, and there was no toilet paper. I knew the prices and conditions at the gate, of course, but I was tired. Near Syrakus, it now costs less than half, 17€.

We stayed six nights and really liked the campground. We wanted a good base for Taormina, and the 20-minute drive to the city center made the location very convenient. It’s right by the sea, too. Our caravan pitch was level and grassy, tucked behind a hedge. The bathrooms were clean, with cleaning two or three times a day, and the toilets even had seats. There was warm water for washing dishes. The two playgrounds kept the kids entertained, although the carousel was broken. Service was good, and we got proper help whenever we needed something. It was also good to see improvements underway: a wall was built around the campground during our stay, and the camper spot at the beach was repaired. We enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend it.

The woman gave us an awful welcome when we arrived from the ferry and wouldn’t let us look at pitches with our dogs. We were so taken aback that we left and moved on without staying. It was a pretty poor first impression from the first person we met in Sicilia. I can’t comment on the site itself, but I wouldn’t waste my time with such a rude receptionist. I’ve since read more reviews and see we weren’t the only ones who felt that way.
