They suggested a local Shiraz, which was excellent, and with a shared dessert the bill came to 100E. Fair for a special dinner. The menu separates dishes with truffle from those without, so you know you're in truffle country. We had lovely roasted prunes wrapped in ham and onion parmegiana, then a perfectly grilled steak and an unusual lentil soup/stew, both delicious. The place sits up a steep side road in a stupendous valley, and the service was attentive and charming.

Lunch was very good, especially the pork, which was fantastic. We could see very happy pigs scurrying around in the woods below the terrace, so it should be. Lovely views and nice people, too. Their English was somewhat limited, but everyone was friendly and we managed fine.

We’ve been holidaying in the area for over 20 years, and this restaurant stands a cut above most of the others around here. The meal was great, the wine list was good, and the service impeccable, even with my rubbish Italian. Highly recommended.
