Porticello is a charming little fishing port, and there’s a quiet beach just down the road. A gorgeous little retreat near Palermo.

We came as a group in October for a yoga tour, so we needed an atmospheric place with greenery, character, and room to practice. This beautiful villa suited us well, and every room had a wonderful view of the sea. Stefan welcomed us and was a wonderful person to deal with. He did what he could to keep us comfortable, including providing mosquito repellent and changing the pillows when we asked. He also stayed in touch and suggested restaurants and towns to visit, with advice on how to get there. That kind of help matters when you’re in another country. The train station is about a ten-minute walk away. We also strolled around Portocello, where there’s a promenade with fish restaurants and fishing schooners, plus lots of family-run grocery shops, fish shops, cafes, restaurants, and pizzerias. I highly recommend the villa for a holiday.

The beach is nearby, the water is clear and warm, and the people there are mostly locals. It’s an easy place to relax and keep smiling. The owners are extremely friendly, and the views from the apartments make you want to stay. Somewhere to dream. Angela / Amsterdam
