That night sky was something else, I hardly ever see so many stars. We stayed for two nights with our two dogs, and Jonathan and his wife made us feel very welcome. We met his children and grandmother too. The apartment was charming and spotless, with a big, comfortable bed. The kitchen had a washing machine and dishwasher, plus laundry detergent and dishwasher tablets. It's a peaceful spot at the edge of Santa Luce, and Jonathan said the fields all around are full of lavender from June to the beginning of July. There's a playground behind the house, and the walks nearby are lovely. It seems especially suited to families with dogs or small children. Pisa and Livorno are only a few kilometers away, and the village has restaurants and a small supermarket. We'll come back when the lavender is blooming.

The food was the highlight of my June weekend here. They use genuine local ingredients, including organic produce grown on site, and prepare traditional dishes the way they're meant to be made. The owners are lovely, and the room was simple but comfortable. A memorable agriturismo, with the heart and feel of Tuscany in the Pisan hills, just a few kilometers from the sea. Compliments to Jonathan and his family, I'll definitely return!

We went with friends for a picnic among the lavender fields, but the field was barely there, scorched by the sun. They'd set cushions on a blanket in dusty undergrowth, with a fruit crate for a table. The picnic basket was the worst part: the little food they gave us was inedible, honestly disgusting, and seemed to have been prepared in an incredibly filthy place. They charged €30 per person. I can't understand how they could ask that much for what was offered. The whole experience was shocking. Avoid it.
