San Giorgio Country Residence

A beautiful, typically Tuscan property, kept in lovely condition. It’s quite secluded, which makes it very peaceful. At night you can hear nightingales, and hares or pheasants may cross your path. The main house has no air conditioning. The caretaker is around most of the time, but for questions about trips and such, we had to wait for one of the owners to show up, and that happened irregularly.

The residence has a relaxing feel, and it’s a beautiful place with a lot of history. The pool is pleasant, with restrooms close by. Still, the service and organization left a lot to be desired, so I lowered my rating. At check-in we paid an extra €10 for towels and bed linen, but never got them. Instead, for three adults and a child, we received four sheets and three scratchy blankets. When I asked for a duvet cover, they brought another blanket. Sleeping was really uncomfortable, especially after paying that extra charge. The property is remote, with no places reachable on foot. Even Santa Luce is only accessible by car, which added stress with a child. We had no in-person contact with anyone at reception during our stay, though calls were answered. There’s no Wi-Fi indoors; outside the signal is patchy. The hostess hadn’t mentioned that beforehand, though we hadn’t asked either, and we’ll be more careful next time. There’s also no coffee machine, and amenities are far away, so plan ahead if you want coffee.

Fantastic accommodation with excellent service. I’d highly recommend it.

We spent a week in room no. 9 (La Malva), and the patio was fantastic, we made the most of it. The lovely pool made us want to stay there instead of heading to the beach. It really was a peaceful, relaxing haven. The owners are kind and always glad to suggest a good restaurant. I highly recommend staying here.
