We spent ten days at Hotel Laurin, traveling around Europe as a family of four adults from Australia, and would highly recommend it for its old-world charm and friendly service. It's right in the heart of Santa Margherita, with bars, restaurants, cafes, and shops on the doorstep. The train station is about a ten-minute walk, and the marina is across the road, making day trips to other towns and the Cinque Terra easy by train or boat. Portofino is a beautiful hour-long walk or a fifteen-minute ferry ride. After sightseeing in the heat, it was lovely to relax by the rooftop pool. There were plenty of comfortable sunbeds and a fabulous view. Our room was lovely and spotlessly clean, with a terrace overlooking the marina, just right for drinks in the afternoon or after dinner. Stefano and his wife Paola own and run the family hotel, and they're both charming and delightful. The staff were friendly and polite, gave us sightseeing and restaurant suggestions, and helped with a small medical issue by booking an English-speaking doctor. They checked in with us the next day to see if everything was okay.

The hotel has everything we needed, including a small gym that we tried. Our room was spacious, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection, and the terrace pool has gorgeous views. It sits among greenery overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the port, while still being central to the city's attractions. The bus stop for Portofino is 50m away. I highly recommend it.

By chance, we found this wonderful hotel, and it turned out to be one of our best hotel stays ever. We miss it now that we're home. It has old-world charm and class, and the staff take real pride in the hotel and its services. Our room faced the waterfront and had a private terrace. We met a man we assumed was the manager, who checked every day whether he could help with train bookings, dinner plans, or other trips. It turned out he was the owner, and Stefano treated us like family throughout our stay. Grazie Paolo and Stefano! We hope to come back one day.

We had such a good three-night stay that we bought food and ate there two nights in a row. The room was spacious, with a balcony overlooking the boats in the harbour. Breakfast was perfect, and the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Thank you Stefano!

My husband and I loved our stay. The room and balcony were small, but the views were amazing, and the bathroom was a fair size. The pool has a fantastic view, though the water felt too hot in the scorching weather. The hotel's location is brilliant, close to the beach, ferry, train station, restaurants, and more. Breakfast was very good, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Reception was always helpful with suggestions for places to visit. The hotel is a family business owned by Stefano and his wife Paola, who are so friendly, and their two lovely daughters help out. For my husband's birthday, we ordered wine and it was brought to our room with a tray of snacks. They told us the wine and snacks were a gift, with no charge, and Paola gave us a parting gift too. We'd definitely recommend this hotel.
