The only staff member I dealt with was friendly, which earns an extra star. The location is about the only other thing going for this place. Otherwise it feels worn out, three stars at best, with tacky old decor that made me want to burn the awful artwork. The old air conditioning was noisy and barely worked, the beds felt rickety and made noise, and nights were loud. Towels and bathroom products did help a little. There was no free water, just overpriced bottles in the bar fridge. Parking at the hotel costs €35 per 24 hours, ouch. For the prices they ask, there are better hotels nearby. We know because we walked around and felt like crying when we saw them.

We had a view of the beachfront from our room, and breakfast was included, which was a nice bonus. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, in a convenient location. WiFi was slow sometimes, and there was no water provided in the room, though nearby shops sell it cheaply.

We cooled off in the Mediterranean just across the road, and the sea view from our room was great, though there was no balcony. Breakfast got chaotic when two large buses were leaving, and service didn't open until 7:30 am.

Barbara at reception made our early departure easier: when we checked out the night before, she offered two breakfasts to take away at no charge since we'd miss the 7:30 breakfast. Our room had an ocean view and a sitting area with a TV, sofa, small table, and two chairs, plus a separate bedroom with a king bed and huge closets. The tiled tub and shower were nice, and the soaps and shower gels were good quality. The staff were warm, gracious, and attentive throughout. Lido Palace was the perfect hotel for our time in Cinque Terre and Santa Margherita. We absolutely loved it; the hotel and staff are outstanding!

The room was lovely, very clean, and had a beautiful balcony. Everyone on staff was nice and helpful, and the location was fantastic too. I’ve already recommended the Lido to a friend and will keep recommending it. I can't wait to return!
