B&B Fontana del Cherubino

I don't understand how this place got a 4.5 rating. It was really horrible. The owner was extremely stingy, and the breakfast portions were tiny. The rooms had only the basics, and there were lots of insects. Our room was far from both the breakfast area and the swimming pool. The area was full of lizards that jumped at you, even when walking on the roads. The pool is in a separate building across the road. There were lots of dogs and sheep there, and they weren't well trained and were very aggressive. It's one of the worst areas I've ever been to. As if that wasn't enough, the electricity went out and we had to sit in total darkness for hours. On top of that, the owner threatened my husband over the review I wrote.

We had a great time here and can't thank the owner and staff enough. They were so generous, sharing what they knew and thought about the region, olives, and life. We also got a new experience helping pick olives. The little family museum charmed us, as did the delicious Sicilian products and the dozen different fruit trees. It's an incredibly beautiful place.

Mario is a welcoming, wise, and caring host. He loves talking about his olive grove and the history of the property, and with a good listener he'll gladly share his delicious wine. I thought the whole place was heaven on earth, and I'm not exaggerating. We spent two weeks here as nine people in two families, staying in four houses. Two were closer to the pool, while the other two had amazing views of the beautiful surroundings. I stayed in the grotto, a unique experience for me since I'd never slept in one before. The cottage is beautifully made with lava rocks and connects directly to a real grotto. Breakfast featured homemade orange and lemon preserves, fresh orange juice, bruschetta, parmesan, tomatoes, prosciuto, coffee, and the host's olive oil. The host's wife always prepared a dessert too, either melon or cake.

A really quiet place with a nice view, and everything was very clean. The service was excellent. A big thanks to Nisal, who helped us a lot. Highly recommend.
