There were only 21 minutes until the foliage train, so we asked at the restaurant across from the station for a plate of farewells and a glass of Spritz or wine. The bistro clerk answered haughtily that if I was in a hurry, then no. I explained I was waiting for the train and asked again for at least a glass of wine. She poured some from the cask without asking what kind I wanted, and gave me a few chips. The way she treated me seemed different from how she treated the customers already at the reception, probably because of the clothes I was wearing. It's 2025, Madam. We're people and customers, not the clothes we wear.

We had a really nice lunch here. It’s an attractive, handy spot just steps from the station, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The dishes were good and fairly priced, though I’d have liked more options on the menu. Showing our Foliage train tickets got us a 10% discount, which was a lovely touch. Pets aren’t allowed.

The apartment’s interior was a letdown compared with its exterior: dark, austere, and visibly worn, with rooms that need renovation. We also felt ignored throughout our stay. At breakfast, we were seated apart from the other guests while the hosts served and chatted with them without acknowledging us. We had booked a room for my wife and me to have a couple’s stay, but personal circumstances meant bringing our young son along. He would have slept in our bed, so we didn’t need an extra bed or any change to the booking. When I called to explain, the response was surly: “I won't leave the child on the street.” I agree with earlier comments about similar behavior. Guests deserve respectful communication, and the property needs proper maintenance. If we weren’t welcome, they could have told us plainly and we would gladly have avoided the experience.
