Getting to this agriturismo means driving up a pretty rough country road. The restaurant feels rustic and neglected, and the food is simple but heavily seasoned, maybe too salty for some. There’s no menu, so you eat whatever they’ve made that day. It’s a family-run place, but it seems quite run-down and shuts very early because it’s so remote.

We liked the food so much that we came back for Sunday lunch. The vegetable starters were varied, and we also had handmade maccheroni al Ferretto and roast goat. Mr. Anselmo made us feel the warmth of Calabria again, chatting about his younger days and how much he loves the region. We’d come to Santa Severina with my family looking for traditional Calabrian food, and found it here. The agriturismo sits in lush surroundings with a beautiful sea view. Mr. Anselmo greeted us so warmly and made us comfortable right away. There was plenty to eat: vegetable caponata, pickled vegetables, nduja, fried Sila potatoes with peppers, stuffed eggplant, handmade cavatelli with pork sauce, goat mutton, and homemade bread.

Authentic, excellent food and a lovely place. The owner was very kind.

We were there for Sunday lunch in July 2024, and everyone looked after us so well. The owner is lovely company and really attentive, and all the staff pampered us with lots of delicious dishes they’d prepared themselves. We were four adults and three children; the kids could wander peacefully around the terrace between courses. The bathrooms were spotless, and the value for money was more than excellent. It’s not a luxurious place, but it has the essentials to make you feel at home. I recommend it if you’re in the area. The negative reviews don’t reflect our experience.
