Ostello MAMRE

Good value for the price.

The food was a real problem: it was poor quality and all frozen, servings were small enough that we had to buy extra for the children, and meals were rushed. Staff took food away while we were still at the table, and even coffee meant using a vending machine at breakfast and after lunch. We stayed eight days with my son's basketball team. The managers were rude, unfriendly, and showed no sympathy or politeness. Though the rooms looked clean, they had ants, and the linens were never changed during our stay. It was extremely hot, and there was no air conditioning. A terrible experience.

Breakfast was the least bad meal. There were warm croissants and homemade cake, though no espresso or cappuccino. Lunch and dinner were disappointing, with precooked frozen dishes such as cordon bleu, potato croquettes, and sausages. Fruit was sometimes replaced by packaged ice cream. The hotel is very large but offers no amenities. Our simple rooms looked clean, although we found ants in the bathroom. We were there June 16th to 23rd, during hot weather, and couldn't turn on the air conditioning. We also couldn't get fresh sheets or towels during the week without paying again. We knew this wasn't a 4-star hotel, but we paid for a different level of service. The management's welcome was so poor that it made the stay feel much worse. We're people who can adapt to anything, and a smile would have helped.

We were there with a sports group, and it was awful. The food was frozen for 5 days out of 7, and portions were so tiny we had to bring our own. The cafeteria hours had no flexibility at all. Someone arrived at 1:30 PM and was told the kitchen was closed. The people running the hostel were rude to adults and children alike, and so unfriendly. I could list a lot more problems, but I'll leave it at that. They don't deserve any stars.
