Aregai Marina Hotel & Residence

We stayed during the first week of September as a family of four. The room was very clean and the location was nice. We cooked in the room, which had enough kitchen equipment, and visited nearby beaches instead of using the beach or eating at the restaurant. There are plenty of sandy beaches around. It was a pleasant stay for the price.

The setting right by the sea is lovely, but the management let the place down. It claims to be four-star on its website, and it felt far from that. The beach shower barely worked, broken metal and rubbish sat in piles beside the umbrellas, and the kiosk was shabby and overpriced. The staff seemed willing, but they were very young and clearly hadn’t had much training. Every day at 5 p.m., loud music was played through a speaker from their phones. I was really disappointed. When I asked for the manager’s email, they wouldn’t give it to me, so I’m posting this with pictures to help people judge for themselves before booking. The website gives a very misleading impression.

We won’t be coming back. The place felt stuck in the past, with odd rules and poor service. Check-in dragged on, we were moved between rooms, and the staff didn’t seem service-minded. When we finally tried to use the beach, which appears in nearly every photo, we were told it would cost almost €40 a day. That charge hadn’t been mentioned before we booked. The hotel provider had shown lovely pictures of a beachfront hotel, but the reality was outdated and poorly kept. Our “Junior Suite” had old, decidedly unmodern furniture and didn’t justify the price. We could hear road noise right in the bedroom. Very disappointing and misleading.

The beach staff were lovely. They even collected jellyfish, and offered cream if you got stung. Everyone at the hotel was kind and helpful, and rooms were cleaned when requested. We stayed first in a sea-view room for a few nights, then booked a superior room with a terrace for longer. The rooms are spacious and work well for kids or friends, as long as you’re okay sharing a bathroom. We liked having the same spot on the private beach in front of the hotel throughout our stay, with beds and umbrellas included in the price, so there was no need to arrive early and hunt for one 😅. The beach is sandy, though stones show up when the waves are bigger. We’ll definitely return. Calling the hotel directly seemed to get better prices 😎
