Albergo Excelsior

We had such a good time at the Excelsior Hotel and would happily recommend it. Our family of four includes someone who uses a wheelchair, and we were there in July for a horse rally. The hotel was accessible, our room was very spacious, and the owner made us feel welcome. We also loved the desserts and cakes from the hotel bar. Pets are welcome, so next time we'll bring our dog. We'll definitely return.

They made a fantastic birthday cake for my son, beautiful and delicious. It made his 41st birthday special.

I'm crossing the Aspromonte, with over 4,000 meters of climbing in three days, and they charged me €20 for a tiny sandwich, a piece of cake, and two coffees. I left starving and speechless, furious and exhausted from the mountain, and didn't have it in me to argue. The owner didn't even seem to think of giving me a receipt. I'm not sure whether I felt more disgusted or angry. Shame on you.

It felt like home, and we were delighted with our stay in September. The hotel was truly clean, impeccably run, and courteous, and dinner was generous and excellent. Breakfast was great too. The location is right in the town center, just steps from the ski lifts, which are closed in summer, and there’s a little shop next door selling delicious traditional souvenirs and food. I was especially pleased that our booking didn't need a deposit. We'd reserved by email, then followed up by phone and WhatsApp, for the end of July, but had to cancel a week before for health reasons. We finally made it in September. If we return to Gambarie, we'd definitely stay elsewhere.
