B&B La Casa in Collina

The setting is lovely and green, with a real sense of peace and quiet. Getting around does mean having a car, which is a little inconvenient. Our room was roomy, welcoming and very clean, with a large bathroom of its own. Breakfast in the hosts’ kitchen was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The two people running the B&B were very kind, and three wonderful friends were there to greet us whenever we came back to our room.

The private entrance to the room was nice, and both it and the bathroom were welcoming and spotless. Breakfast was carefully prepared and excellent, served in a beautiful dining room. Pippo and Paola were lovely hosts with lots of suggestions for local outings. There’s the Cansiglio plain and the Caglieron caves, and in fall or winter there’s the international children’s illustration exhibition. A special mention for the sweet house cats, who were welcoming and happy to be petted.

We had such good conversations with the other guests in the shared kitchen. Paola and Pippo made us feel like part of the family, and the room was lovely, welcoming and spotless. Breakfast was generous and really good. We can’t wait to come back!

Paola and Pippo put so much care into the place, especially the garden, where there’s a flower or vegetable in every corner. The rooms are well kept and, above all, clean. Sarmede has been known for fairy tales and illustrations since the early 1980s, when illustrator Zavriel’s work became famous. Many houses around town have fairy-tale murals painted by Zavriel’s artist friends. The B&B sits in this enchanting spot between nature and fairy tales. I’d recommend staying here if you’re traveling through the Veneto hinterland.
