Masseria Petrella

Peaceful location, excellent room, and excellent food. Iriina was a very kind and helpful host.

The rooms are simply furnished but have all the comforts you need, and even in the middle of August the temperature stayed cool. Dr. Merenda, the Masseria’s owner, was exceptionally professional and gave us an excellent tasting of the estate’s wines. There’s clear potential here, though the site still feels unfinished. The quiet location has a stunning view of the Soverato coast. The road up to the Masseria is steep, and the signage could use more attention. It’s a family-run business, a lovely choice for people wanting nature and a beautiful view.

Breakfast is simple but tasty, with fresh fruit from the garden and homemade citron, strawberry grape, medlar, and fig jams. Guests can use a shared refrigerator in the breakfast room. The masseria sits in a panoramic spot, with spacious rooms, tasteful furnishings, new bathroom fixtures, working air conditioning, and big windows that bring in plenty of light. The large bathroom could use more storage for toiletries. Some fixtures, including the shower heads and soap dispensers, are worn and impractical, and the rooms aren’t especially quiet. The road is somewhat narrow and steep, though parking is right by the entrance.

The young owner was really helpful when my plans changed and I ended up coming alone instead of with friends. He found a convenient arrangement for me too. The place is well kept, with spacious, clean, welcoming rooms. I didn’t try the food, but I’ll definitely come back. It’s easy to reach and has parking, though getting to the beach in Soverato means driving about 5 minutes each day.
