Grange Hike & Ski - 34C Sestriere

I’d only recommend this hotel for a cheap one-night stopover. For the price, the service is decent, but no more than that. The room was missing both shutters and curtains, so there was no way to darken it for sleep. When I asked reception about fixing it, they didn’t know what to do. They only gave us a different room after I said I’d take shutters from an empty room and install them myself. The room wasn’t very clean and had spiders and insects, mostly dead, which we didn’t mind. But being able to darken a room seems pretty basic. The restaurant was another disappointment. We arrived quite late, but still within check-in time, and asked whether the kitchen could make us a snack while many people were still seated. They checked and said we could get food. Yet when we reached the restaurant, the owner said we were very late, which was why we’d asked first. We sat at a table already dirty from dinner and got two large sandwiches with no care or extras, extremely dry, just a couple slices of salami and a little cheese, no butter or anything else. We felt unwelcome. The next day we paid 20 Euro for that dry bread, including coperto for the dirty table. The owner defended it all when we tried to discuss it and didn’t understand our complaint, so we paid and left. The hotel is extremely badly managed, and the staff poorly trained. They could have simply told us the restaurant was closing, and we would have driven into town, where we’d seen bars on the way, instead of being offered such poor service.
