The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the hotel sits right on the slope with a great bar. Weekends bring music and a lively atmosphere. We stayed for a week on a ski trip, with breakfast included, and had a great time overall. I’d recommend it. The rooms are a bit small, with too few drawers and shelves for clothes. Breakfast was the same each day, which got tiresome, and there weren’t enough protein choices or vegetables.

The staff were accommodating and honest beyond words, and the hotel had everything we needed for our ski trip: good facilities, comfortable rooms, and the friendliest people. The location is perfect, with true ski-in access and about as close to ski-out as you can get. It also has one of the best bars in Sauze. I can’t recommend it enough. It’ll always be my first choice when I visit Sauze again. Thank you to everyone at AVALANCHE!

Breakfast was a letdown for what we paid. It’s a continental European spread, but on three of our four days the bread had run out by 9.15am. On Sunday there were no eggs either, and when we asked, the waitress just shrugged and said, “kitchen closed”. The rooms are adequate, some with a view over the nursery slope and chair lift. It’s a lovely hotel in a superb ski-in/ski-out spot, and the bar is a nice place to spend time after a day on the mountain. I’ll definitely stay again if I return to Sauze.

The bar and restaurant service was so bad it completely spoiled our evening. We were hotel guests, but at 6pm, when we came down for a drink and some food, we were told they were too busy preparing for the evening and to come back at 7pm. Several other tables already had people eating and drinking. We went back to our rather small room and waited an hour. Just after 7, the place was quite full, with plenty of other people let in, but we were told there was no space. Nobody tried to find us a table or help us. Hospitality level zero. Don’t spend your money here. The hotel itself is nice, which made the poor service even more disappointing.

Four weeks before our January 2026 stay, one of the two rooms my friends and I had booked was mysteriously cancelled. We’d reserved both rooms in June 2025, since few hotels were accepting bookings that far ahead. When we contacted the hotel, they said we had cancelled it, which wasn’t true. The cancellation notice they sent as proof didn’t say who had cancelled, which felt convenient for a hotel trying to rip off its customers. Their solution was to charge us double for a room we had already booked six months earlier. They didn’t honour our bookings, so I don’t trust this hotel or establishment. Luckily, we found somewhere else to stay. I’d suggest doing that rather than going through the stress of trying to book at the last minute.
