The room door had a broken lock, so locking it overnight was practically impossible. The hotel needs renovation: dirty white walls, lamps that barely lit, and a dirty sink just inside the bathroom. Corridor shouting at night also kept me from resting. Reception and breakfast were at another hotel. The receptionist was nice, but without English it was hard to check in; the breakfast waiter was very nice. This did not feel like a 3-star hotel. I felt cheated and would have asked for a refund if that had been possible.

There was no reception at the building, just a door leading to an elevator with no directions. Thankfully, someone at the nearby bar told us the reception was 300 meters away at another location. Our room smelled strongly of smoke and stale air, and had almost nothing in it besides a wardrobe and bed. There was no light bulb, no bedside tables, and the bed had a brown stain in the middle. The bathroom had no light either, so we had to use the mirror light to see. In the morning, the exit door was locked and we waited 10 minutes to find out how to get out, carrying our suitcase down the stairs. Even the minimal breakfast was 300 meters away.

The price is lower than the competition, though the place isn’t the best. There’s no reception on site, and breakfast is at Gallo D'Oro hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly, and Gallo D'Oro hotel looked welcoming from the entrance and dining room, though I didn’t see the rooms.

My wife and I stopped in for an unplanned lunch. We only had a starter and first course, with a glass of wine each, and paid €150 for two, so it wasn’t cheap. The restaurant is well kept, though, and the preparation and quality deserve praise. I might return.

The place is clean, orderly, welcoming, and friendly, with genuinely helpful people. I don’t think you’ll find better in Porto Garibaldi. I’ll be back and bring friends. Highly recommended, and thank you!
