Elena at reception was especially welcoming and quick to help, though a few other desk staff came across as less friendly. The hotel worked well for my Easter weekend in Savona after disembarking from a transatlantic Costa cruise, since it sits right by the port and I was heading to Genoa afterward. Nearby markets, shops, bars, restaurants, and plenty of good local places to eat made the location its strongest point. I skipped meals at the hotel. My main frustration was the room temperature. Reception sets the permitted temperature range, and guests have little control. My first room got very hot from being in the sun all day, so I had to move. Taking the key when leaving also causes the thermostat to adjust automatically. I understand the energy-saving idea, but I want to be able to manage the climate in my own room. The rooms were clean but small, with different views. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom adequate. One of the two elevators was out of service throughout my visit. I'd suggest the place for a short, handy stay near Savona's port if temperature control isn't a concern. Next time, I'd look farther from the port, where I saw other nice properties that were less convenient for getting to the harbor.
