Trekking Lovers House Scala With Ravello Sea Views

We chose Portico del Paradiso after our travel company cancelled our Ravello booking a few weeks before the trip, and I’m so glad we found it. After staying in Sorrento and visiting the usual tourist spots, we wanted somewhere that felt authentically Italian, with local villages to explore. Scala gave us that, along with a peaceful break from the noise and crowds. We walked to Ravello and back most days, and also used the bus, a few taxis, and the ferry. There are several restaurants about a 10-minute walk away, a local shop at the bottom of the steps, and a few café bars in Scala. We stayed for two weeks, and the staff made it special from arrival to departure. Roberta was a delightful, caring host who went above and beyond, especially since it was our belated honeymoon. Patrizia and Valentina were wonderful too, and everyone worked hard to make guests comfortable. Patrizia kept our room clean every day and replenished the minibar. Valentina served a lovely breakfast on the terrace, with beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere. Even though it’s a B&B, they can serve evening drinks if you ask ahead, and questions are answered easily in person or over WhatsApp. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, with air conditioning and a minibar. From there, we could see the mountains, town, and sea all at once. After stays at 3, 4, and 5 star hotels, we were surprised by how much the service here stood out. It’s excellent value and such a serene place. The hilltop location does mean lots of stairs, so if you have mobility issues, renting a car is a must. There’s guest parking, though. We won’t hesitate to book again. Thank you, Roberta, Patrizia, and Valentina, for a wonderful holiday. We’re so grateful.

The staff were super friendly and breakfast was good. We had a nice room with a great view of ravello, though the bed wasn’t very comfortable. On cold nights, wind came in around the bathroom window. Be prepared for lots of stairs.

The staff were kind and very helpful, and it felt like good value for the money. Scala is a lovely village, close to Ravello and not far from Positano.

Amazing place. I highly recommend it, everything was perfect.
