Gasserhof Garni & Apartment

Verdins has several restaurants to suit different tastes, along with a little shop for everyday things. The regular bus and hiking bus stop right by the turnoff from the main road. We felt very much at home and will definitely come back. We were there for a short hiking break after the Whitsun holidays, staying at the family-run Gasserhof B&B, which also has holiday apartments. The rooms are well cared for, and the place feels comfortable straight away. Breakfast is simple but tasty, with something for everyone, including a freshly cooked egg if you ask. The family are very helpful, and Andreas always has a good hiking tip. We were lucky enough to join him on a guided walk into the beautiful Ultental, and it was a wonderful day. After a hot day, the lovely, well-kept pool is great for cooling off, or you can relax in the garden shade. In the evening, it’s nice to sit on the terrace with the other guests and enjoy a schnapps or two.

From the warm welcome when we arrived to the moment we left, everything was lovely. The apartment has everything you need for a great holiday, and there’s a small playground with climbing equipment for little kids. Definitely somewhere we’d visit again.

The bus stop and village center are both less than a five-minute walk away, even though the house itself is very quiet. We stayed in the Birne apartment with the extra room Jolly, along with our two children, one of whom uses a wheelchair. It was spacious, modern, very clean, and accessible. The beds were spotless and comfortable too. The Kaufmann family were welcoming and took great care of the kids. We’d definitely return. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, dear Kaufmann family.

Verdins felt pleasantly peaceful and, to us, not too touristy compared with Schenna or Merano. Public transport there is very good, and the B&B is also well placed for getting around the region. We spent two wonderful weeks in this idyllic setting. The rooms were clean and welcoming, and everything made us feel at home. Breakfast was varied and plentiful, with regional treats and homemade jams to try every morning. Our hosts were incredibly helpful throughout, including with suggestions for worthwhile hikes and traditional farmhouses to visit. We highly recommend this magical place for a lovely South Tyrol stay.
