C'era Una Volta Scicli

The rooftop was my favorite part: caves, birds, and a view that made it feel like a movie set. We visited over Easter, when the town celebrates in a way unlike anywhere else. The house is in a quiet local neighborhood where you can leave the car and explore on foot. Francesca really loves the region and has plenty of suggestions in and beyond town. For a distinctive southern Sicily stay, Scicli and this house are a great choice. April was cold for us, so bring warm clothes because the nights get chilly. Thanks for a lovely stay!

We liked our first visit to Scicli and Francescas so much that we came back for two weeks. The apartment is just right for two, modern and redone by her husband Luigi, an architect. It’s tucked into a quiet end of the neighborhood, yet only about a 10 minute walk from what you’ll want or need, and from places to explore on foot. Francesca and Luigi are a lovely couple who make you feel as if they’ve known you forever. A great place to visit and stay, and you won’t regret it.

We had a great time at Francescas. Her little flat is made for a couple, and the high standard makes it very comfortable. It has a nice blend of ruined-house character and modern style, with what you need for cooking and relaxing. Scicli is just the visible tip of Sicily’s historic iceberg, and a good starting point for exploring the island’s many ancient places. We really enjoyed staying here. A big thank you, F. & T. ;)

We only had three nights and wished we could have stayed for three weeks. Francesca was a fantastic host, quick and easy to communicate with, and generous with her time as she showed us around and talked about local history, treasures and current culture. She knows the region and is enthusiastic about it. The dwelling is charming and comfortable, with a private rooftop dining spot for evening drinks and idyllic views. It’s quiet but central to Scicli’s old town.
