Il Carrubo Holiday House

We felt at home here, and the owners were thoughtful and kind. There's a swing for little ones, plenty of parking, and a handy outdoor table for a drink outside. The place has all the amenities and feels like a peaceful oasis. We had a great time and highly recommend it.

A carob tree shades the courtyard, where there are two tables and a barbecue. From there, a lovely outside staircase leads up to the house. It's a large property behind a gate, with private parking, surrounded by greenery but still close to amenities. Scicli and Modica are both less than 15 minutes away. The farmhouse was renovated a few months ago and has every comfort. Thick stone walls keep it cool, and there are air conditioners in both the bedroom and living room if you want them. We found it spotless, and the welcome felt almost like being at home. The owner was available for questions and kindly helped us when we realized we'd left a T-shirt behind.

After we agreed on the price, they asked us for the tourist tax, and the amount they requested seemed higher than necessary. They also don't sanitize the mattresses between guests, as far as I could tell. Since the sea is several kilometers away, I expected a bit more, like being charged the right amount or at least having breakfast included. I don't think I'll come back next year.

The owner was genuinely helpful and knew the area well. It's an excellent place, and I highly recommend it.
